Court Commands make encouraging debut

May 31, 2010: First-crop progeny of Court Command made an impressive first appearance in public last week when a small selection of colts and fillies went through the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast. Of eight youngsters catalogued for sale, six of the contingent found new homes, realizing an aggregate of $155,000 and an average of over $25,000.

Top-price fetched by Court Command weanlings was $52,000 for a bay colt from Cara purchased by J & I Bloodstock Ltd of New Zealand. Significantly, the youngster was the first foal of an unraced daughter of Dolphin Street (Ire) presented by Lakeview Stud P/L of Canungra, Queensland.

Lakeview Stud were vendors of four weanlings by Court Command at the sale and saw another bay colt from Zoleen fetch $32,000, and yet another bay colt from Ela Cassini realize $30,000.

Demand for the stock of Court Command at the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale came from far and wide. Two of the six lots sold were purchased by New Zealand entities, one by World Wide Bloodstock of South Africa, and another by Ampulla Stud of Victoria.

Court Command stood his first season at stud in 2008 at a service fee of $8,800 (inc. GST). The average of $25,000 achieved by the stallion’s six weanlings sold on the Gold Coast last week represented more than three-times his initial service fee.
