No doubt about the Redoutes

February 8, 2010: Wattle Brae Stud is approaching the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale with a large degree of confidence following the very pleasing start sire-sons of Redoute’s Choice have made to their respective stud career.

If the past 18-20 months of competition are anything to go by, Australia’s most expensive stallion is going to make a sire-of-sires of great significance.

Firstly, Not a Single Doubt showed the way for the freshman sires of the previous racing season, proving one of the most prolific members of the contingent.

Now, Snitzel heads the First Season Sires listing for 2009/10 on the eve of the major juvenile racing period.

In addition to these highly promising two young stallions, at least another six sons of Redoute’s Choice — including Stratum, Bradbury’s Luck and Al Samer — have already been represented in the winner’s enclosure and plenty of others are expected to follow suit.

One such prospect is Wattle Brae Stud’s Group winning 3-year-old Get Square, an exciting young horse with his first crop making their debut at yearling sales of this present time.

So far into the current Australasian yearling sale series, 10 members of Get Square’s first crop have been taken to sale, fetching as much as $42,500 in one particular instance.

The 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale witnesses Wattle Brae Stud taking its most substantial consignment of Get Square progeny to face the local buying bench.

The outfit is in no doubt that the success of this new Redoute’s Choice breed of Australian galloper augurs well for how its draft is likely to be received.

As Wattle Brae Stud principal put it: “Everyone basically knew that sons of Redoute’s Choice would not take long in making their mark.

“That is why we were so keen to secure such a quality representative of the line a few years back.

“If you recall, Get Square was overseas when he first became available, following an aborted international campaign due to a career-ending training mishap.

“Despite all the complications of landing him as a stallion prospect back in Australia, we felt it would prove well worth it in the long-run.

“The early results of Not a Single Doubt, Snitzel, Stratum etc, have been very heartening.”

Wattle Brae Stud’s 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale draft has close enough to a dozen youngsters by Get Square on offer from an attractive selection of female families.

A good proportion are also early foals, making them genuine candidates for the series of 2-year-old races staged by Magic Millions during the course of each juvenile racing season.

They also, of course, are prospective bonus earners through QTIS.

All things considered, Get Square has plenty going for him as a quality member of the emerging Redoute’s Choice breed leaving folk in little doubt of their worth to the local racing industry.
