Easy
Rocking coast-to-coast
double
JANUARY
2009:
The admirable flexibility
of the Easy Rocking
stock was perfectly
illustrated by interstate
metropolitan racing
on Saturday, January
24, when the outstanding
Wattle Brae Stud resident
was represented by
winners of different
age groups on opposite
sides of the country.
In
the first race of
the day at Eagle Farm,
Funtantes (2f, Easy
Rocking-Cantantes)
started a juvenile
event as an odds-on
favourite and had
little difficulty
in winning by a clear-cut
one and a half lengths.
The youngster was
having its initial
attempt at 1200 metres
and encountered a
rain-affected
surface for the first
time in its life yet
handled the assignment
with aplomb.
Over
the Perth, Western
Australia, later
in the same day,
Rocking the Blues
(4g, Easy Rocking-Tupelo)
landed the last
on the Ascot card,
winning a 3YO & Upwards
contest. The 4-year-old
son of Easy Rocking
was only having
his second outing
following a 41-week
spell and has now
won three of his lifetime
14 starts.
Funtantes
was bred in
partnership by trainer
Robert
Heathcote and has
now won two of her
three starts, having
finished second
at her only other
outing.
Rocking
the Blues was
sold for $52,000
at a Horses-in-Training
Sale staged
in Western Australia
in the second
half of 2006
after being sold for
$9,000 as a yearling
earlier
in the same year.
