Scintillating ‘warm-up’ from Court Command
Wattle Brae Stud resident stallion COURT COMMAND, back in work to be campaigned during the 2009/10 racing season, scored a scintillating victory at Eagle Farm in a ‘warm-up’ to his impending spring preparation.
Having his first outing since putting up a commendable performance in the Group 1 QTC Stradbroke Handicap on an unsuitable wet track, COURT COMMAND led from start to finish in a 1300-metre open handicap to score by a commanding three-and-a-quarter-length winning margin.
Since returning to racing after beginning his stud career in 2008 by covering 100-plus mares, COURT COMMAND has won two of his five engagements and been generally unlucky when not finishing in the money. His first-up effort on the Gold Coast saw him feature in the Stewards Report after receiving a severe buffeting, while severely wet tracks were very much against in both the Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke.
In addition to winning the Quality Handicap at his latest encore outing, COURT COMMAND ran a field of high-class sprinters off their feet to land the Group 3 BTC Darley Sprint (1300m). He is now the winner of six races from 15 starts with prizemoney in advance of $1 million.
